Nothing puts a damper on air travel like a horrendous TSA security checkpoint.
Hundreds of people, screaming kids, and the slow shuffle of travelers who would rather be at home in bed… sounds fun, right? Well imagine this! Bypass the TSA crowd and step into a line of 5-20 people enjoying the perks of TSA PreCheck.
Keep your shoes on folks, you’ve already been screened and accepted into this new travel lifestyle!
By becoming a TSA PreChecked flyer you now reap the rewards of arriving at the airport later than you needed to before, can forgo the gross airport floor in socks, and can keep that belt or jacket on as well! With a simple online application and quick visit to a local TSA PreCheck office, you will be set to fly for five years.
Here is why I suggest becoming a TSA PreCheck flyer!
I fly a lot for work! By far the worst airport to fly during rush hour is JFK in New York. Hoards of people rush to the airport after wholesale fashion markets. After being on your feet all day pushing clothes from multiple designers, the last thing us sales girls wanted to do was stand in a TSA line. We decide to all become TSA PreCheck flyers and man has it made all the difference. Whether we were flying out of LAX or Burbank (if you know the two airports one is much easier and faster to navigate than the other), then you know how much time you need to allot for security, bags, and navigating your way to your gate. With TSA PreCheck you aren’t garunteed a shorter TSA line, but the speed is always much quicker. Since you have already been pre-checked by TSA, and the government, you are not required to open your bags, remove your laptop, shoes, or jacket, and in most cases can leave liquids in your bags. You still can’t bring water bottles through the line, but the mini shampoos and conditioners will be safe inside your bag.

TSA Pre Best for:
- US citizens and lawful permanent residents who primarily fly within the United State
- $85 application fee
- Apply online HERE
- Schedule an appointment at an enrollment center
- Attend a 10 minute interview which will include a background check and fingerprinting
- Become TSA PreChecked and received a KTN (Known Traveler Number)
- Enjoy TSA PreCheck for 5 years
My experience during the 10 minute interview was amazing! Compared to a TSA checkpoint, my appointment was swift and painless.
I checked in 5-8 minutes before my scheduled appointment and was invited early to meet with a representative. I was asked if I had any prior convictions and or jail time, how often I fly and why, and general information about myself including my social security number. I was asked to place my fingers on a special scanner and instantly my fingerprints were taken. Lastly, I was asked for my signature and then I was sent on my happy way!
Within two weeks I received a paper with a “KTN” Known Traveler Number and this is the number I always provide when purchasing a flight. When you pull up your electric or paper boarding pass a little PreCheck symbol will appear in the corner noting that you are free and clear to bypass the long and tedious TSA line and head to the much shorter, much quicker TSA PreCheck line.
My opinion on TSA PreCheck:
Whether you travel for work or for pleasure, for an $85 fee this will save you time and money. If you are like me and prefer to use your time wisely, then become TSA PreChecked. It’s easy and the benefits are great!
